Why Big Love Farm?

Why the farm?

I grew up on several different farms in Arkansas. While we had a garden, my uncle had chickens, we kept goats and a few head of beef cattle, it was very much a monoculture. We grew cash crops: rice, soybeans, milo and wheat. The Truck Patch and the animals made up less than .1% of the operations.

For the last 20 years I have worked in restaurants and hotels. Everything from a Burger King to the Venetian Resort. My wife and I both love food, we seem to get deeper and deeper into it everyday. This just seems to be the next natural step. A farm of permaculture, diversity of crops and animals and value added products.

Why the name?

The name was inspired from my wife who has a blog called Angie's Big Love of Food... I have Big Love for my wife and for food.
